Silent Screams

Silent Screams on Gamma.io >>

Have you ever felt like screaming out, yet you didn't want anyone to hear? Have you ever screamed out loud, yet nobody heard you? Or have you ever wanted to scream with all your existence, but you couldn't, and it kept echoing within you, till you spiritually exploded?..

Silent Screams is a visual inner reflection of all the things that were never said, and that were never heard. They range from the deepest and darkest corners of the soul, to the most colorful and cheerful parts of the heart, formed by all kinds of emotions and thoughts. Some Silent Screams are so powerful that you can almost touch them, while some others are so faint that they are almost invisible.

As a selection for #GenuaryForever event of Gamma.io, Silent Screams were drawn using only rectangles, millions of them. 17 main and even more sub variations with dozens of hand picked color palettes and their variants were used in the generation of Silent Screams.

The initial primitive draft for Silent Screams appeared while working on an older generative piece of mine a long while ago. It was kept to be visited afterwards, when the time was right. Over time, just like a scream builds up before it's released out, this work also built up in my mind, even before I got back to working on it again.

Generated by a very simple yet versatile algorithm, I explored the possibilities and improved the painting style. Trying different aspect ratios, I decided to go with 0.5, which seemed to be the natural fit for this work. When I really started working on Silent Screams to create a fully fleshed out collection from it, the initial concept looked as follows:

I continued exploring the algorithm, achieving more variations, and generated further variants of each variation. After over two months of work, when the artwork felt like it was getting close to the finish line, I introduced colors, which was one of the most fun parts of this process.

I spent a lot of time filtering out less desirable variations, sub variants and color palettes, to achieve a certain level of aesthetics and consistency in the final work. I believe I achieved that to an extent. I hope that the actual minted ouputs will reflect some, if not all, of the beautiful possibilities of this algorithm.

Below you can see some possible variations that were generated by the final script:

I want to thank the Gamma.io team for their support and guidance in the launch process and a big thank you to all my collectors, as your interest in my work is what keeps me going.

This generative artwork is dedicated to my dear wife, my "The One", as it was able to come to life only by her endless support.
