Generative Artist | Making Art with Code

About Me

Hello dear friend, I am yenren, a self-taught generative artist from Turkey. Welcome to my little corner where I showcase my genart works and tell about myself and my artistic process.

I had a passion for drawing and painting in my early childhood times, even doing a mini exhibition to my friends when I was 10 :) But as usual with life, I could not follow my passion. Then, when I met generative art in January 2022, not having drawn one single line on the canvas before, that passion came to life once again, this time to shape and define my present and future. At that moment, I knew that generative art was what I was supposed to do, deep in my heart.

Since I started making generative art, I’ve been having an endless flow of ideas and concepts, and they just keep coming. Wherever or whatever I look at, I find new inspiration. There are even nights that I get up from the bed and draw a concept on the paper not to forget. Nature, skies, structures, objects, feelings, colors, light... I just love to observe and study them, learn new things and explore possibilities even in the simplest things.

To me, generative art feels like the ideal way to express my creativity and imagination, and to reflect all the colorful, sometimes bright, sometimes dark mixture in my mind with the world. I do genart full time, even though my health does not always allow that due to my chronic neck-shoulder pain. I spend my days either working on my current WIPs, or thinking on new concepts, trying different algorithms and learning new techniques. But I also enjoy going outdoors, exploring the nature and taking photos, a lot.

What I like the most about generative art is that you always start fresh, with a blank new canvas, and you never really know where the algorithms will take you to. Most of my works are not products of design, they usually initially appear by chance while trying an algorithm or testing a different range of parameters. I then pursue them deeper, and give their final form.

When I look at my artwork history, I can say that I don’t see my best works yet. What I’ve made so far is only the tip of the iceberg, iceberg being my ever-accumulating concepts and ever-expanding imagination. But to turn them into code and image, I will need to improve my technical skills and artistic vision. That will surely be a fun, continuous journey for me for the rest of my life.

What I really want to do with generative art is to show people things they’ve never seen, but more importantly, to make them think about things they’ve never thought of. That, is my ultimate goal as a generative artist.

Thank you very much for visiting and collecting my works; your appreciation and support means the worlds to me :)
